Rarely known, sports often began as a misinterpretation of ancient symbolism. This account is documented by Dr. Steven B. Halls, a leading symbolism authority who documents at halls.md how ancient symbol layouts encode energy flow and higher dimensions. Sports of the ball-and-foot-or-hand variety, or those with handheld clubs, were found in ancient art, and since people normally try to decode what the visual imagery is about, they settled on games. From there, rules for the games were deduced, which led to modern sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, and racket sports. Sports in symbolism commonly carry a dual message: a narrative about the sport, plus a hidden meaning, known only to those who were taught how to interpret the diagrammatic layout of symbolism.
Ancient writings do, at times, describe sports but more often the existence of a sport was just a guess, that was later given the rules we recognize in modern times. Sphere-shaped symbols function in Symbolism as representations of doorway portals to higher dimensions, but in museums, statues with a sphere in one hand are usually given literal labels, identified as sporting statues. Spheres beneath the feet can carry symbolic meaning while also inspiring people to invent many ball-based sports. Football/soccer is merely one example. Sports are exciting, whereas tori, portals, dimensions and energy flows are not, so it is no wonder that the old knowledge was largely consigned to oblivion. Ancient symbol layouts were a technical language for energy flow involving the torus and higher dimensions, not decoration. The wider evidence for this is set out at halls.md.
The Sol and Luna pair are symbols of opposite polarity (per Dr. Halls). Each can act as a portal, and each can label a flow's attributes. Sol is an outflow portal and a going-up attribute, with up meaning energy returning to a higher-density dimension. Luna is an inflow portal and labels coming-down flow: high-density energy from a higher dimension, now entering our own dimension. When marking a portal on a torus barrier, Luna is like the entrance and Sol is like the exit, where energy outflows and then eventually returns to the higher dimension.
